The Basket System comes close to achieving the feat in a hard-fought match against Falconstar Monfalcone. The two teams competed for supremacy in a balanced match where each had its opportunities over the course of 40 minutes. In the end, the home team prevailed and managed to extend their lead in group D of the Interregional Serie B.
Monfalcone begins the first quarter by pressing on the accelerator unlike the red and whites who are unable to capitalize in attack. After the first 10 minutes of the game the score is 16-8 for Falconstar who in the second quarter did not maintain the advantage but spread reaching double figures (+12). From here the Basketball System reacts and, thanks to Bozzetto and Cassese, manages to reduce the gap (34-28).
Cecchinato in the third act with 8 points brings the red and whites back on track, but Monfalcone takes control of the match while maintaining a distance of just one point from Pordenone (43-44). In the last period the red and whites try to break away in the last quarter but the game will be decided in the last minute with a lost ball on the throw-in and Monfancone’s +1 basket in the final. Unfortunately, errors on free throws took their toll (27%, 3/11), but the team left the field with their heads held high after a tight match until the end.

When you give everything and fight like this away from home against the first in the league, there is little to complain about. Well done to them for not giving up when in the end they went down. It is certainly my responsibility in the end not to have called an important time-out to better organize the throw-in in the attacking zone which cost us a turnover and which put them at +1. On the throw-in +1 for us and ball in hand I knew they would immediately foul me and I wanted to keep the time outs for the last possessions once I was fouled, but that wasn’t the case. We still had the last ball to close it out but tonight it didn’t go in. We will make the most of our mistakes continuing to fight every Sunday.”
