The mayor of Cesena Enzo Lattuca was not present in the cathedral yesterday for the announcement of new bishop from the outgoing Douglas Regattieri, but wanted to convey his closeness to the diocese and to Christian community as well as congratulations to the appointed bishop and thanks to the one who leaves office. “We are grateful to our outgoing bishop, from today apostolic administrator, Monsignor Regattieri – states the mayor – for having guided our Catholic community in Cesena from 2010 to today and for the full collaboration that has made possible a fruitful relationship between the Municipality and the diocese in complicated years characterized by the pandemic, by new conflicts, which brought several refugee families to our city to whom we ensured full welcome and integration, and by the flood”.
“We are now happy – continues Mayor Lattuca – to prepare for the arrival of Bishop Caiazzo, who is presented to us as a person particularly interested in the poor and the young, to whom he has already made an appointment in view of his inauguration, and in social problems and work, central issues for us”.
“I express from now on our full availability – states the mayor – to renew the collaboration, necessary to be able to respond worthily and concretely to the needs of the Cesena community”.
Also the Hon. Alice Buonguerrieri (Brothers of Italy) welcomes the new bishop, “an attentive guide to social problems and work. He will always find in us valid collaborators in the promotion of Christian values”.
